Inspiration for colorful living - daring to be different

Has someone or something provided inspiration for your home decor?

This past Thanksgiving I hosted ten people for dinner at our new condo.  The guests included my parents, son #1 and his fiance, son #2 and my daughter-in-law, and my daughter-in-law's parents.  My son's mother-in-law is an artist and high school art teacher, and the first question she asked after a tour of our new condo was, "What inspired your color choices?"

First and foremost, my choices were inspired by the lovely artwork by Liz Lind.  Liz is a local Maryland artist who creates gorgeous whimsical beach inspired works of art.  You can see her work here

You may find this one in my living room :)

Another source of inspiration was the beautiful rugs from Company C.

You may find this one  in my living room and entrance foyer :)

My third source of inspiration was the lovely fabrics from Amy Butler.

I know - it's colorful.  It's different.  It's probably not for everyone.  But I love it.  It makes me happy:)

My new motto:  Live What You Love.

What inspires you?  What makes you happy?

Merry day after Christmas

Looks like the snow that was predicted for this area is a bust, but we had to cancel our trip to Doylestown because they are expecting a foot of snow there!  So I will be spending today cleaning up, putting gifts away and generally relaxing.  And playing some more with my new camera!   The pictures above are just some random shots of Christmas around our condo - enjoy the day!

Santa brought me a camera!

Well I finally got my own camera from Santa!! Of course, I still have a lot to figure out about it, but now let me show you some pictures of Christmas around our condo. This is the wreath that is on our front door. It was purchased three years ago at a shop in the Hampden section of Baltimore. I love the vintage shiny brites in all my fav colors!

More lovely shiny brite goodness! These balls were picked up at the antique mall in Emmitsburg, Maryland and the Goodwill in Westminster for dirt cheap right after Christmas last year. I piled them into a zinc drawer that was purchased at the Old Lucketts Store. I made the Peace letters from chipboard letters purchased at Hobby Lobby, added german glitter glass ala Miss Mustard Seed, for a sparkly and colorful centerpiece on the dining room table.

Here is the view from the other side - JOY!

I really, really love these! Colorful makes me happy :) Well, I am off to play with my camera a bit more and try to figure out more about this blogging stuff - Merry Christmas! Hope Santa was good to you all :)
